Jacuzzi
Jacuzzi Uk are a household name who for over 30 years have pioneered the production of high class hot tubs and bathrooms and are renowned for quality and design.
In an effort to further improve their operation Jacuzzi Uk identified a requirement to further modernise their servicing and installation operation and link after sales staff to engineers in the field.
The problem
Jacuzzi wanted to improve their current procedures involved in managing site visits by the engineers as it was identified as carrying a lot of administrative cost.
The cycle of a typical engineer site visit involved logging the requirement, creating a job sheet, printing the job sheet, faxing it to the engineer, engineer creates itinerary then faxes back, finally on completion of each job a filled in job sheet would be faxed back to base and data from it maintained in a spreadsheet.
This is very paper and process intensive and suffered from numerous disadvantes such as printing costs, time, faxing costs, machines required, phone line costs, time lags, duplication of effort and difficulty updating paperwork.
The Solution
In order to reduce the admin cost to a minimum and modernise the whole process a bespoke mobile engineer application was developed.
The solution provided a flexible job and itinerary booking system which the engineers run on 3G equipped netbooks allowing instant updating of jobs. The solution also links into the companies after sales database so that staff in the factory always had accurate up to the minute information on the progress of jobs which hugely improves their ability to respond to customer phone calls.
Reporting is built into the solution to allow top level metrics on completion rates etc to be extracted at the click of a button.
